It really helps with transferring large files, like video files, to other computers very quickly. I do this a lot going back and forth from my college campus and my house. It saves a lot of time over having to upload and download a file to a cloud every time I'd like to move my work.One of my favorite things about this is that it is made and optimized USB 3.0 but it also has some of the fastest USB 2.0 transfer rates I've seen. The 2.0 write speed seems to be averaging around 25 MB/sec while most other USB 2.0 drives that I've used are around 7-8 MB/sec. The USB 3.0 transfer rate was double that at about 50 MB/sec. It feels durable with a rubber coating all around, which is great because I like to keep my flash drive on my key chain (there is a spot on this flash drive for it) so I won't have to worry too much about it breaking when it is in my pocket with all my keys. So I will talk about the few points that matter.Speed- This sucker is fast. I benchmarked it with CrystalDiskMark and got 209 MB/s read and 102 MB/s write speeds connected to an ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 motherboard. As most of you know flash memory speeds vary greatly, I have read reviews of some usb 3.0 drives not going much faster than their usb 2.0 counterparts. So I was pleased to find out that this drive lives up to the advertised speeds. Use- I needed a larger flash drive for transporting multimedia around the house (bluray rips, etc) and 64GB is a good size since most of those files are bigger (usually 40-50GB) than the smaller drives. With the fast speed it makes moving a movie from one computer to another that much less painless than my usb 2.0 options. Then failed completely. Looking into the forums at Corsair, found a lot of similar complaints. People going through one return after another with it. Since there is no point in returning a product for replacement if it keeps having trouble and you don't trust it, I cut the rubber coat off of it. Underneath is just a plain old circuit board. Nothing to stop that very bendable rubber wrap from flexing. With predictable data loss. Perhaps the worst computer product I have ever owned. Should have been killed on the drawing board. Shame on you Corsair. No point in returning a product for replacement when the design is flawed in the first place. What's the point in having unreliable USB storage? |
